Lateral McMurray test
Valgus test
In fully extension it tests the superficial and in 25 it tests the deep fibers.
In supine, examiner holds patient lower leg just above ankle joint with one hand and hold lateral side of the knee with other hand. Apply valgus force to the knee.
Positive if there’s pain, increased joint gapping on medial side indicates MCL injury.
Varus test
In supine, examiner holds patient lower leg just above ankle joint with one hand and hold medial side of knee with other hand. Apply a varus force to the knee.
Positive if there’s pain or increased joint gapping on lateral side indicates LCL injury.
Apley’s compression test
Apley’s distraction test
Patella apprehension test
Patient in supine with knee fully extended.
Examiner applies pressure to medial side of patella with thumbs and push it laterally.
Test is positive if there’s pain. It then indicate patellofemoral instability or patella subluxation
Patellofemoral grind test
Posterior drawer test
Anterior drawer test
In supine with hip in 45 flexion and knee in 90. Patient foot flat on plinth.
Examiner sits on the foot. Hold anterior joint line with thumbs and hold calf with all fingers and apply a sudden forward force and feel for joint laxity.
Soft end feel or excessive tibial movement forward indicate ACL injury.
Lachmans test

Examiner stabilize femur with one hand while other hand holds tibia. He then pulls tibia anteriorly and posteriorly and feel for end point laxity.
Pain, laxity, soft end feel indicate ACL injury
Pivot shift test
Ottawa knee decision rule
Reverse lachmans test
