EDUCATION & COMMUNICATION
Help people understand why change is necessary, give info on the change. Tell them value of change and long term benefits to them and the business.
PARTICIPATION & INVOLVEMENT
Getting people involved in process- give sense of ownership, more willing to get involved and make the change work.
Giving responsibility to ease the change process.
FACILITATION & SUPPORT
Some people resist change due to fear, if support these people so they have the skills and resources they need to cope with the change then they may not resist.
e.g give training.
NEGOTIATION & AGREEMENT
Negotiate or bargain to win their agreement with them.
Compromise is needed.
Form of change slightly different than originally intended.
Deal with employees e.g give bonuses, pay rises…
MANIPULATION & CO-OPTION
Offering rewards to win over key influential people who will then get others to agree to the change.
Identify those most likely to resist to change then give them responsibility by brining them into the process.
EXPLICIT & IMPLICIT COERCION
Force change through if other methods were unsuccessful or not possible.
Threaten redundancy, pay cuts etc…
Agree because they have to- or else will be made redundant or lower wage etc.
