KV Flashcards
(13 cards)
When is the safety and power up checklist required?
Crews FFOD on a particular airplane or when it was powered down
When you receive a plane thats already powered up what do you do?
Double check the safety and power up checklist and run the FIRE EXTINGUISHER test
On the ground, if AC power is lost, what is the procedure to reestablish AC power?
Use the Leaving the Airplane checklist to power down the airplane, then the Safety and Power Up checklist to power it up
What must be on to have a valid check on the Brake Wear Indicators during the walk around?
Emergency/Parking brake
With the Emergency/Parking Brake ON, what must be verified as sufficient to ensure the braking system is activated?
Hydraulic pressure systems 1 and 2
Inspection of the ADSPs show ice and snow contamination, what is the procedure?
ASDP switch on during originating flow, off during after start flow
Spurious AFCS and ADS EICAS messages may be an indication of what in regard to the ADSPs?
Contaminant inside ADSPs (ice, snow, etc)
The preflight section of the SOPM uses the phrase “Clear of Ice” repeatedly for each section of the airplane, what is SkyWest’s philosophy regarding ice and contamination?
Clean Aircraft Concept
No takeoff when frost, ice, or snow is on the wings, control surfaces, engine inlets or critical surfaces
What is a Cold Weather Preflight Inspection?
A visual and tactile inspection of the critical surfaces for frozen contaminants
What are the planes critical surfaces?
-Wing leading edge and upper surface
-Horizontal stabilizer leading edge and upper surface
-Vertical stabilizer
-Engine inlets
-ADSPs
-AoA vanes
-Antennas
-Fuel drains and vent scoops
-APU intake/exhaust
-Landing gear
-Flight deck winshields and windows
When is a cold weather prelight required?
-Quick turn, temp/dp spread <3*
-RON with icing potential
-Airframe ice potential while inbound
-Cold soak fuel
-Atmosphere conducive to icing
-Fuel temp 0* or less
-OAT 5* or less
When does the cold weather preflight need to be done?
OAT 5* or less and within 30 mins of pushback
How much frost is allowed on the aircraft and where?
Fuselage - if paintings and markings are still distinguishable
Under wing - 1/8” or less
