وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَـٰنُ لِٱبْنِهِۦ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُۥ يَـٰبُنَىَّ لَا تُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌۭ ١٣
And ˹remember˺ when Luqmân said to his son, while advising him, “O my dear son! Never associate ˹anything˺ with Allah ˹in worship˺, for associating ˹others with Him˺ is truly the worst of all wrongs.”

What can ظُلْمٌ do to someone + its connection to shirk?
→ IT IS darkness
Shirk is the WORST kind of darkness in your heart due to lack of light of tawheed

Theoretically takes one out of islam; according to rules + principles
- Allah will not forgive one who dies upon it
BUT practically→ many nuances one should think about + wrong to say someone is a kufr as it can come back to you if ur wrong

Explain 1st category of الشَّرِكُ اﻷكْبَرُ w/ evidences
وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَـٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًۭا
The places of worship are ˹only˺ for Allah, so do not invoke anyone besides Him.

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَندَادًۭا يُحِبُّونَهُمْ كَحُبِّ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَشَدُّ حُبًّۭا لِّلَّهِ ۗ
Still there are some who take others as Allah’s equal—they love them as they should love Allah—but the ˹true˺ believers love Allah even more.

What pious predecessor speaks about love + explain what they said
Ibn Qayyim (raḥimahullāh): “The heart in its journey to Allah is like a bird. Love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings.
When the head is healthy, then the two wings will fly well.
When the head is cut off, the bird will die.
When either of the two wings is damaged, the bird becomes vulnerable to every hunter and predator.”
What is love made out of
- Fear

- Natural in every person
E.g. love of paradise, parents + children, travelling etc
BUT one MUST build this love of respect + family ties on OBEDIENCE TO ALLAH….far from wrong doing (faasad)
Can general love become special love?
General love should NOT be exaggerated to extent of becoming special love (exclusive to Allah)

when one does something for the sake of another when it should be soley for Allah

Hadith; 3 ‘righteous men’ (scholar, martyr + rich and gave money to poor) thrown into hell as their actions were so that people would see them in a good light
Hadith 2: Prophet ﷺ said : one thing i fear more than the dajjal is hidden shirk; when a man stands to pray and makes it look good because he sees a man looking at him
Why did the 3 men go to hellfire if this type of shirk is minor shirk?
Someone can do something ENTIRELY or PARTLY for someone else
- Entirely→ one is a الْمُنَافقْ
Minor shirk can lead to major shirk
