Define Salt
An ionic compound, often comprised of a metal and a nonmetal.
Under what conditions will a salt be considered soluble?
If it’s concentration is greater than or equal to 0.1M
Under what conditions will a salt be considered slightly soluble?
If it’s concentration is between 0.01 and 0.1M
Under what conditions will a salt be considered insoluble?
When its concentration is less than 0.1M
What is the solubility of Lead Iodide at 20 degrees Celsius?
Less than 0.002 mol/L
How will the solubility of the lead iodide be measured in the experiment?
After spectrophotometrically measuring the molar solubility.
What is the purpose of KNO3 and KNO2 respectively?
KNO3 is an inert electrolyte that does not participate in any reactions and serves mainly to maintain a constant ionic strength in various solutions.
KNO2 acts to oxidize the iodide ion (I-) to I2.
