LabLiver Flashcards
(12 cards)
Liver
lobules are hexagonal
cords of hepatocytes
sinuses between the cords
endothelial cells line the sinus
Hepatocytes
acido large 1 or 2 large nuclei cytopalsm has unstained areas lipid droplets pigemnt (bile or hemosiderin)
Sinus
White space between the cords
Endothelial cells - lining, flattened
Kupffer cells - within sinusoid or in the lining, phagocytes
Portal Area
Portal vein - wide, thin
hepatic artery - narrow, thick muscle wall
bile duct - lined by cuboidal/columnar epithelium
may contain lymphatic vessel
Space of Disse
contain plasma
between sinusoid and cords
Sinusoid
blood vessels between cords
specialized capillaries
bring blood to central vein
lined by discontinous endothelium (more contact)
canalicus
channel connecting bilie ducts in liver
lined by hepatocytes that border it
Microvilli protrude into lumen
junctional complexes on either side(dark)
Gall bladder
Microvili simple columnar lamina propria muscularis serosa/adventitia (peritoneal) or (liver)
Pancreas
Islet of Langerhans
acinus
intralobular ducts
Pancreas: Islet of Langerhans
large round ball of lightly stained cells
insulin producing, glucagon producing
Pancreas: Acinus
Oval shaped
contain acinar cells
zymogen granules at apex of cells (acido or unstained)
Centroacinar cell - represent ending/beginning of intralobular duct
Pancreas: Intralobular duct
drain secretory products from acini of organ
lined by simple cuboidal/columnar
center looks white in H/E
Cells should have same staining as centroacinar
Surrounded by CT
