Laboratory Techniques Flashcards
(4 cards)
Affinity chromatographic separation
The displacement of the protein from the column in this tep involved disrupting the binding of the (His)6 tag to the column
Size-exclusion chromatography
Separate based on molecular weight, not selective column binding
Cation-exchange chromatography
Separates proteins with different positive charges (or positive vs negative/neutral); its separation method is not based on selective binding to the column, it is based on a functional group-specific chemical rxn or ligand-receptor interaction
Anion-exchange chromatography
Separates proteins with different negative charges (or negative vs positive/neutral); its separation method is not based on selective binding to the column, it is based on a functional group-specific chemical rxn or ligand-receptor interaction
