Landing Gear and Brakes Flashcards
(21 cards)
When does the gear warning sound activate?
If gear is not down and either…
- flaps are in a landing config 25 or 30
- Any thrust lever is at idle with RA below 800ft
How many wear pins on each brake pad?
2
What are thermal fuse plugs for?
to prevent tire from exploding and causing A/c damage if brake temps get high
What brakes are pressurized by which system?
Normal - right hydraulic system
Alternate - left hydraulic system
Reserve - right hydraulic system
WHen does the alternate brake system become available?
loss of right hydraulics system pressure, occurs automatically
If both normal and alternate brake pressure is low, the BRAKE SOURCE light will illuminate. what triggers the reserve brakes?
Select the reserve brake switch, an elec pump will provide pressure to the R hydraulic system, brake source light should disappear if working correctly
If the Brake Source light remains on after pushing reserve brake button, what is left for braking/
The accumulator is the only remaining source of hydraulic pressure
How much pressure is in the accumulator?
about 3,000 psi is normal. results in 5 to 6 applications. however do not pump brakes
What do BTMS values range from?
0-9. 5-9 is high range. Brake temp illuminates with 5 or higher
What is the difference between a fault and complete Anti skid failure?
ANTISKID eicas means a fault has occured, while ANTISKID OFF means a complete failure.
What is the purpose of the auto brake system?
To provide constant deceleration at the selected rate. auto brake pressure is reduced as reverse thrust and spoilers are active. Autobrakes function with reserve system braking
How do you disarm the auto brakes?
-APplying pedal brakes
-Advancing either thrust lever
=moving speed brake lever from full up after they have deployed on ground
-selecting disarm or off position
*auto disarms if fault occurs. (Auto Brake light illuminates)
In RTO when does a/c apply maximum braking application?
- the airplane is on the ground
- gs is above 85 kts
- both thrust levers are retarded to idle
- manual braking required below 85 kts
Will the parking brake provide adequate pressure if in the yellow band on the accumulator gauge?
No, must be outside of yellow band.
-300 What happens when landing gear lever is placed in off position?
Landing gear rests on the gear door and the doors are held shut by a mechanical uplock.
What hydraulic system uses nose gear steering on 757 and -300?
757- L hydraulic
-300 - C hydraulic system. (can be powered by reserve brakes and strg system)
767 - What hyrdraulic system provides pressure to normal and alt brakes?
right hydraulic for nrml and ALt is the center system
767 - what does selecting reserve bks and strg switch on do?
- opens the supply valve to allow hydraulic fludi to supply the c1 pump
- energizes the c1 electric pump
- closes the isol valve to ensure the c1 electric pump is isol from the other components
- illuminates the isln light on the accessory panel
767 - If loss of both AC busses what happens after 30 min to hydraulics
Nothing, should operate normally provided center system fluid is avail.
767 - The tailskid eicas message means the tail was hit on landing?
No, it means the tailskid is in disagreement only.
What hydraulic system powers nose wheel steering and normal gear movement?
Left Hydraulic system
