Q

Venezuelan Revolution Evidence:

A

In Venezuela there is a group of Caracas Creoles who were very well trained and creating their own Republic on the outskirts of this Spanish colony, in the middle were the mixed race Llanero cowboys who supported the Spanish monarchy and prevented the Creoles from expanding their Republic inward. However Simone Bolivar convinced them to work together with feats of strength such as crossing flooded plains and going with no sleep. By 1822 Bolivar’s army had control of Bogata, Caracas and Qunito.

Q

US to LA reasoning:

A

The reason that there was a revolution in America in the first place was because Gabriel wanted more racial inclusivity and the reason that it was important for their to be support from both the white artisans and the enslaved people was because the goal was inclusivity and that creates a more diverse element of support, in Venezuela there is just a huge mixing of races in general and race does not factor into any of the conflicts in this revolution and most of the dispute is based off of cultural differences

Enslaved people turn to Spain for freedom (Haiti)

A

After the French people in Haiti revolted against the French people in France they didn’t give any rights to the enslaved people or the Creoles. This made the enslaved people and the Creoles team up for their rights and fearing a revolution they couldn’t handle the French people gave rights to the Creoles but not the enslaved people. This forced the enslaved people to fight unsucessfully by themselves for a while until the Spanish offered them freedom if they fought for them and they agreed despite not wanting to turn against their home country

Haiti to LA Claim:

A

In both the Mexican and Haitian Revolution, groups of different races unite in order to obtain freedom but the group that is “more white” benefits more because of their race, however in the Mexican Revolution both groups ended up with freedom but in the Haitian Revolution, only the “more white” group did.

Mexican Revolution Evidence

A

In the Mexican Revolution the Peninsulares, the Creoles and the Mestizos or Peasants all teamed up to fight the new Spanish king for different reasons, (Creoles and Peasants for more power and Peninsulares bc they want Catholic Church) the Creole General Iturbide and the Mestizo commander Guerrero worked together to get independence, in the end it works and they are successful, 1822 Iturbide is made the first king of Mexico because he is “more white” than Guerrero and the peasants who were very crucial to independence did not get a lot of credit for their effort
