It is the power to threaten the employees in doing a task; otherwise they’ll be punished.
Pros: immediate compliance
Cons: High-turnover rates
Explain REWARD power theory and the positives and negatives of this theory.
It is the power to motivate and influence your engagement through incentivizing by money, time-off, opportunities.
Pros: Increase motivation - increase productivity
Cons: Feeling intitled to receive rewards everytime.
Explain the LEGITIMAT power theory and the pros and cons of this theory.
It is the power to influence people’s behaviors due to the title and status of the job.
Pros: Stability and consistency. workers will feel safe.
Cons: Potential abuse.
Explain Expert power theory and the pros and cons of it.
The ability to lead/influence others due to one’s knowledge and experience expertise.
Pros: Trust and respect creating a positive work environment
Cons: Team friction; when explaining they can sound condosending.
Explain the REFERENT power theory and the pros and cons to it.
the ability to influence others through admiration, respect, or loyalty.
Pros: Builds strong relationship with employees.
Cons: ineffective in crisis situations. (Crisis often need quick decisions, which REFERENT takes time to develop.)
