(15 cards)
what is an email host
internet provider that offers an email service to its user
What is Ping
A test of end to end connectivity, which times the return of an ICMP (internal control message protocol)
What is latency
‘delay’ experienced, for example when playing online games (movements made to a character happen a long period of time after you made them)
What is a bit
Short binary code, smallest component of data
What is the Codec
a device or program that compresses data for fastest transmission
When using a email what is POP3
older email system they allows one-way emails but does allow you to download your internet from a server to a client
What SMTP in emails
Simply mail transfer protocol, normally used by very popular email, this is because from your email client to your outgoing mail server
What is IMAP in Email
Allows access to your email no matter where you are voice and video calls over the internet
What is SIP in emails
Establishes the connection between sender and receiver
Emails what is RTP
Transmits data packets along the connection
What is RTCP in Emails
Sends control packers providing feedback on the quality of data delivery
What does data compression do
Makes it so it takes up less space and less bandwidth. Data is lost to compress the file
How does images and audio files remove data
Algorithm removes data which is less noticeable
what is lossless in data compression
The opposite is lossy and reduces the size of the data by removing and filtering any unnecessary bits of data rather than reducing the relevant data
What is Codecs in data compression
Device which encodes and decodes data and compresses it to make it faster to transmission, compatibility is the main implication, the recipient must be able to decode the data in order to view the image or listen to audio
