what is behaviourism?
Behaviourism is a traditional teaching method where the teacher gives information and the learner listens, memorizes, and repeats. The learner is seen as a blank slate, and learning is about copying what the teacher shows, often without understanding.
which 2 processes does cognitive development occur?

Accommodation
accommodation refers to the process of modifying and
adapting an existing schema or creating a new schema because incoming information is in
contradiction (the new concept does not fit the existing knowledge) to what is already known.
what are the stages of cognitive development?
sensorimotor stage;
preoperational stage;
concrete operational stage; and
formal operational stage.
Sensorimotor (0 – 2 years)
The infant learns and explores their
environment using their senses
Develops object permanance
Preoperational (2 – 7 years)
Can use symbols to represent objects
Can’t reason logically yet
Has not developed concepts of conservation
and reversability
Concrete operational (7 – 11 years)
Develops concepts of conservation and
classification
Can think logically about concrete objects
Reasoning skills start developing
Formal operational
(11 years – adulthood)
