Location Red bone marrow
Located in the bone tissue
Location of thymus
Located between the sternum & the aortic arch in the superior
mediastinum
Location of lymph nodes
Concentrated in the following locations:
* Cervical lymph nodes (in the neck and monitor lymph coming from the
head & neck)
* Axillary lymph nodes (armpit – receive lymph from upper limb and breast)
* Thoracic lymph nodes (receive lymph from the mediastinum, lungs &
airway)Abdominal lymph nodes (posteriorabdominopelvic wall – receive
lymph from the urinary & reproductive systems)
* Intestinal & mesenteric lymph nodes (mesenteries & adjacent to the
appendix & intestines – receive lymph from the digestive tract)
* Inguinal lymph nodes (receive lymph from the entire lower limb)
* Popliteal lymph nodes (receive lymph from the leg proper)
Location of tonsils
Pharyngeal tonsil – located in the nasopharynx and is posterior to
the posterior nasal aperture.
* Palatine tonsil – located at the posterior margin of the oral cavity
* Lingual tonsils – Embedded in each side of the root of the tongue,
specifically found on the posterior 1/3 of the tongue.
Location of spleen
Located: Left hypochondriac region, inferior to the diaphragm &
posteriolateral to the stomach
