What are the 2 courts and their differences

A

Crown court and magistrates. Magistrates is less serious offence presented in front of 3 magistrates and crown is for more serious offences in front of a judge and a jury

What is the process for making a new law

A

-An idea occurs
-The idea is turned into a policy discussing the pros and the cons of the idea
-The policy is turned into a green paper with a consultant
-Green paper turned into a white paper
- white paper is brought to parliament

How does a white paper end up getting royal ascent

A

It enters the House of Lords/ commons where it undergoes:
- first reading -
- Second reading - debating the topic
- Committee stage - in detail breakdown of the paper
- Report stage - changes are discussed
- Third reading - concluding discussion
Once done it will go the other house to undergo the same process.
The houses agree on required amendments before it can gain royal assent

A

An outlining act passed by parliament

What is secondary legislation

A

When parliament delegates authority to bodies/ people allowing them to make more detailed laws about primary legislation topic.

A

When judgment is passed based on previous cases that are similar due to their not being legislation about that specific scenario

A

A system of ruling for countries in the EU.
The UK left the EU however kept EU legislation in place however have the ability to make amendments from 2021.

A

Since 2010 they have been in charge of:
-Keeping a register of pharmacists, pharm. techs and premises.
-ensuring continued fitness to practice
-ensure safe and effective running of pharmacies
