use of johari window for self-awareness
- Blind self can be reduced by asking others about yourself
- Sharing more about hidden self leads to shrinking of hidden self and enlargement of open self (at your own discretion)
- More trust more open self than hidden self
- Perceived open self may actually be hidden self

what is Use of self & 3Ps in use of self
- This concept emphasizes the importance of a practitioner’s self-awareness and their ability to intentionally bring aspects of their personality, values, and emotions into professional practice, particularly in group settings.
o How to engage the group; how to tailor ourselves to meet the needs of the group? - It is a complex weaving of practitioner philosophy, intuiting, feeling, being and becoming.
- 3 Ps
o Personal knowledge – life experiences (background, beliefs, values) - REFLECT
o Professional knowledge – clinical knowledge (skills, competencies) - APPLY
o Propositional knowledge – theoretical or factual knowledge – GROUND

- Intentional process of examining, analysing and learning from experiences within groupwork settings, with the aim of improving both individual and group performance
Why is there a need for reflective groupwork practice?
- To enable practitioners to examine their own practice and articulate the thoughts, attitudes, values and feelings that affect the actions to take
