Review X-Linked Recessive Traits
A
- sex-linked X chromosome disorders (ex. colorblindness, hemophilia, etc.) manifest mostly in males, although the gene for the disorder is located on the X chromosome
- males are XY and if they inherited an X with the hemophilia allele from their mother, they will be heterozygous “bleeders” (XY)
- X-linked mutations (especially hemophilia have had significant effects on human history as well as individuals
