1
Q

Overall function of the thalamus?

A

relay station - determines level of neural firing to higher processing; control sensitivity

2
Q

Ventero-posterior nuclei?

A

responsible for afferent information from spinal cord to sensory cortex; medial to lateral is head to toe homonculus

3
Q

Ventro-anterior and ventral-lateral nuclei?

A

information to motor planning cortex via basal ganglia

4
Q

Papez’s circuit?

A

parahippocampal gyrus -> hippocampus -> fornix mamillary body -> anterior thalamic nucleus -> cingulate gyrus -> start (frontal cortex back and forth around last arrow)

5
Q

Medial dorsal, lateral dorsal and lateral posterior nuclei?

A

integration of sensory input association cortices (frontal and parietal)

6
Q

Pulvinar nuclei?

A

secondary visual info

7
Q

medial geniculate nucleus?

A

input from auditory nerve -> relay to primary auditory cortex

8
Q

Lateral geniculate nucleus?

A

relay from eyes to visual cortices
