Agility
• The perceptual-cognitive ability to react to a stimulus, in addition to
the physical ability to change direction.
• The ability of an individual to react to changes in direction without
loss of speed or accuracy
Change of direction speed (CODS)
Ability to change initial direction to a predetermined location & space on the field or court.
Simple agility
No spatial or temporal uncertainty
eg: Gymnast’s floor routine
temporal agility
Temporal uncertainty, but
movement is pre planned
(spatial confidence)
eg: sprint start
spatial agility
Spatial uncertainty, but
timing of movement is pre planned
(temporal confidence)
eg: volleyball serve recieve
