Q

why did America develop into a consumer society

A

Industries flourished during the war which helped make the American economy the most dynamic and successful in the world and as a result, most Americans had a lot of disposable income, this then raised the standards of living and created employment for those involved in the production of consumer goods. With more disposable income, more products available and unemployment under 4% throughout the decade, America developed into a consumer society.
