Management - Cognitive Impairment

  • Toileting program with > 2 hour intervals
  • Consider trial of anticholinergics
  • Scheduled voiding/habit training
  • Caregiver takes pt to bathroom on schedule
  • Goal = reduce incontinence episodes
  • Indications = pt can toilet with assistance and respond to voiding cues

A

Condom catheter for men
- Need consistent penile protrusion of at least 1”
- Size correctly
- Apply to clean, dry skin with full adhesion

Non-adhesive sheath/reservoir system
- Require consistent penile protrusion of at least 1”
- Hard shell penile cups supported by briefs
- Sport sheath external catheter for men with limited penile protrusion
