Primary Catering Industry
These are establishments that offer food and beverages services and accommodation such as hotes, motels, resorts and so on
Residential
These are establishments that only offer food and beverages such as restaurants, pubs and night clubs
Nonresidential
It is embedded in the establishment as support or secondary activity such as hospital catering, institutional catering, transport catering
Secondary Catering Industry
The food service establishments main objective is to gain profit by selling food and beverages as its primary or seecondary activity
Profit Motives or Commercial
The customer have a full choice of what to eat and where to eat
General Market or Non-captive customers
Offers limited to food offerings or foods specifically designed to a particular clienteles need
Restricted Market or Captive and semi captive customers
This primary purpose is to provide accommodation that include food and beverages services
Hotels
Prepare, present and serve food and drinks on various clients on-premises though some include take out and delivery services
Restaurants
This is commonly known as fast food restaurants
Quick Service
Restaurants offer a full meal at a midrage price.
Can provide full service, buffet and pay to order counters that can be self service or limited service having the customers food brought to their tables
Mid-scale service
Offer excellent quality cuisine at a high end price.
Provides full service in an elegant ambiance
Upscale service
Food and drink services are offered to people engaged in leisure, sports qnd recreation through licensed cafes, food stalls, fast food restaurants, food court
Leisure-linked catering
Also known as off site catering
Provides food and drink from a small to large group of people for social or corporate function
Off-premise catering
Political party club, societal club or roaty clubs
Club
Offers terminal catering and in flight catering
Air transport catering
Caters to passengers travelling by surface transport such as buses, cars, and private vehicle
