1. Qué is used directly before a noun. Ex: What classes are you taking this semester? ¿Qué clases tomas este semestre? 2. Qué is used when asking for a definition or explanation. Ex: What's happening here? ¿Qué pasa aquí? What does salir mean? ¿Qué significa salir?

When to use "cuál" or "cuáles" (vs "qué")?
1. When using it as "which," it's often followed by "de" Ex: Which of the beds is your bed? ¿Cuáles de las camas es tu cama? 2. When you want to tell someone information, but not explain it Ex: What is today's date? ¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy? ¿Cuál es el nombre de la profesora del curso?

Define the difference between "cómo estar" and "cómo ser"
1. When used with estar, it's asking about a state or condition. Ex: How are the girls? ¿Cómo están las chicas? 2. When used with ser, it's asking about an inherent characteristic of something or someone. Ex: What are the girls like? ¿Cómo son las chicas?
