What is salvation history?
Salvation History is the story of God’s plan to save humanity from the consequences of sin as documented throughout The Bible
→ It began with Creation, unfolding now and will continue till the End of Time
What are, and who are covenant mediators?
If we look through The Bible, there are various times when God unfolds a plan to save humanity from sin and establishes a covenant with the person who he directed to lead his plan.
These people are known as covenant mediators.
Covenant Mediators are people who represent groups of people involved in a covenant.
The covenant mediators are Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David & Jesus
What does covenant mean?
→ Covenants are an extension of kingship (ruled by a king) by oath.
→ An extension of kingship from God to make us part of his family, shown by an oath
What’s the difference between covenant and contract
Covenant
- An exchange of persons, not property
- Spiritually enforceable (by God)
- Life long and not easily broken
- Based on faith
Ex. Marriage, Adoption
Contract
- An exchange of goods, services or money
- Legally enforceable (by a judge in a court)
- Time-limited, can end when obligations are fulfilled and can be easily broken
- Based on mutual exchange of benefits
Ex. Business, Trade, Mortgage, etc.
