Lesson 2-Space Flashcards
(10 cards)
What happens in a lunar eclipse?
When Earth is positioned precisely between the Moon and Sun, the Earth’s shadow falls upon the surface of the Moon, dimming it and sometimes turning the lunar surface a striking red over the course of a few hours.
What happens in a solar eclipse?
The Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. People viewing the eclipse will see the beautiful outline of the sun.
Why is it summer in some countries and winter in others?
As we pass around the sun, some parts of the Earth are tilted towards the Sun they get more of its heat, while others are tilted away, and get less of the Sun’s heat. Also the hemisphere that points away from the sun is in winter while the one that points towards the sun is in summer.
The sun is a…

What is gravity?

How do we calculate the weight of an object?
Weight = Mass X Gravity
