Lesson 4 Flashcards

1
Q

A

~ Continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it.
~ Pressure = Force/Area
~ P = F/A
~dF = PdA

Q

What is Pascals Law

A

~ Pascal’s law states that when there is an increase in pressure at any point in a confined fluid, there is an equal increase at every other point in the container.
~ A change of pressure in a fluid is transmitted undiminished to the boundary of the container and the rest of the fluid.

Q

Define Buoyancy

A

~ Force of Buoyancy balances the force of gravity if the submerged object in not moving.
~ The magnitude of the buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object
