Environmental Health/Laws and Policies in Public Health
refers to all physical, chemical, and biological factors
external to a person, and all related behavior, but
excluding those natural environments that cannot be
reasonably modified (The World Health Organization
(2018).

public health system, environmental health works to
advance policies and programs to reduce chemical and
other environmental exposures in air, water, soil, and
food to protect residents and provide communities
with healthier environments” (National Environmental
Health Association, 2016).

○ To encourage the extensive use of drugs with generic names through a
rational system of procurement and distribution;
○ To emphasize the scientific basis for the use of drugs, in order that health
professionals may become more aware and cognizant of their therapeutic
effectiveness; and
○ To promote drug safety by minimizing duplication in medications and/or
use of drugs with potentially adverse drug interactions?
