Q

What are Helpful Bacteria?

A
  • Bacteria live on and in our bodies and keep us alive!
  • Probiotic
  • It helps the digestive system
  • Food Production

What is Syphilis

A
  • Sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria
  • The route of transmission is almost only through sexual contact (babies can be born with it if the mom has it)
  • Can be treated with antibiotics
  • If left untreated, it can damage the heart, brain, bone and eyes, and cause sterility

Q

Development of Antibiotics

A
  • Discovered by Alexander Flemming
  • A mould called penicillin is an antibiotic (medicine) we take to kill bad bacteria.
  • Inhibits the growth of bacteria (prevents function of the cell wall)

Question…?
If we have medicine to help fight off these bacteria, then why do we still suffer from diseases or sickness?
ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE!!!
