Agricultural Yield
The agricultural output per hectare of land eg crop yields, milk yields.
What is a hectare?
A hectare is a measurement of area. It is 10 000 square metres.
How much yield does corn have?
5.2
how much yield does rice have?
4.4
how much yield does wheat have?
3
how much yield does soybean have?
2.5
Why is agricultural yield important?
Agricultural yield is important because if you can increase the yield (amount produced
per hectare), then you don’t have to use as much land to produce the same amount of
food/fibres.
What has 77 percent of food production been because of?
77% of the increase in food
production has been because we are producing more per hectare of the land we already use.
What are the enviromental factors that influence agricultural yields?
- Temperature
- Water availability
- Soil
- Topography

What happens when there is a drought?
When there is a drought, the amount produced per hectare generally goes down.
What nutrients do plants need?
They need nutrients like:
- Nitrogen
- Phosphorous
- Potassium
what is ph level?
how acidic the soil is
