Levetiracetam exclusion criteria

• Known hypersensitivity
• Patients who are no longer fitting;
• Patients who present with absence, myoclonic, or non-convulsive status epilepticus, or infantile spasms;
• Patients who have already been given a second-line antiepileptic drug during this episode of CSE

Leveriracetam adult dose

Answer 3

1500mg over 15 minutes infusion

3 vials in 100ml sodium chloride

Levetiracetam repeat dose

Answer 4

Adults - no repeat.

Children aged 12 years and under may have a second dose if the seizure has not stopped within 20minutes of administering the first dose of levetiracetam.
