Light
The natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.
Beam
A ray or shaft of light.
Ray
Each of the lines in which light (and heat) may seem to stream from the sun or any luminous body, or pass through a small opening.
Energy
The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.
Luminous
Giving off light; bright or shining.
Non-luminous
Not capable of producing light, but can be capable of reflecting light from another source.
Speed of light
The distance light can travel in a unit of time through a given substance.
Shadow
A dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface.
Electromagnetic wave
One of the waves that are propagated by simultaneous periodic variations of electric and magnetic field intensity and that include radio waves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and gamma rays.
Frequency
The rate at which something occurs over a particular period of time or in a given sample.
Wavelength
The distance between successive crests of a wave, especially points in a sound wave or electromagnetic wave.
Colours
The property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way it reflects or emits light.
Velocity
The speed of something in a given direction.
Colour spectrum
The distribution of colors produced when light is dispersed by a prism.
Reflection
The throwing back by a body or surface of light, heat, or sound without absorbing it.
Absorption
The process by which one thing absorbs or is absorbed by another.
Eyelids
Shut our light.
Eyelashes
Catch and trap dust.
Tears
Small glands inside your eyes to tears keeping your eyeballs clean and moist.
Pupil
The little dark circle is the center of each eye. Allow light into the eye
Iris
Controls how much light needs to be in.
Lens
Focus as light comes through.
Retina
Send signals to the brain.
Optic Nerve
Carries the image to the brain.
