Q

Why is Netflix the new blockbuster

A

they create content but has to pay a lot, yt create content but does it free
- Blockbuster= the store that sold dvd’s, movies, but they died because they were not digital (digital transaformation)

Q

explain the innovation process

A

Idea phase: In this phase, the goal is to define the need and desire to innovate. The team will explore potential ideas, identify opportunities and challenges and decide where to focus their research and development efforts. They will also define the problem they want to solve and create a hypothesis on how to solve it.

Business case: In this phase, the team will conduct research to validate the idea and develop a plan of action. They will create scenarios, analyze the market and competition, and create a business case to justify the launch of the experiment.

Pilot: Entrepreneurial people launch the experiment with a clear mandate and key performance indicators (KPIs) defined together. A pilot test is a small-scale trial of the idea in a real-world setting, which allows the team to gather data and feedback on the concept and make any necessary adjustments before scaling up.

Scale/pivot/kill: This phase is dedicated to monitoring and analyzing the results of the experiment. The status is updated regularly and decisions based on the output of the experiment are made. If the results are positive and the experiment is successful, it will be scaled up. If the results are not as expected, the team may pivot and make changes to the idea, or the experiment may be killed if it is deemed not viable.

–> Start from customers, map their problems, ideate solutions

Q

what are the 4 innovation thrivers ?

A

Solving a problem: Understand the customer’s needs, market gaps and pain points before starting the innovation process.

Making decisions with incomplete information: Be comfortable with taking risks and making decisions based on the information available.

Starting small and daring to kill fast: Start small, test and learn, and be willing to kill a project if it isn’t working.

Building on small improvements: Focus on small incremental changes, iterate and improve over time to achieve significant results.

Q

what are the 3 challenges in digital transformation

A
  1. Strategy formulation: Selecting the best strategy based on internal & external environment.
  2. Strategy implementation/ definition: Mapping strategy to individual building blocks of the organization & defining projects.
  3. Strategy execution: Performing the identified projects as desired (lasting change of building blocks)

Q

what are specific issues organizations face ?

A
  • They didn’t do feasibility analysis (haalbaarheidsanalyse) (go directly from step 1 to 3)
  • The budget is not aligned with the strategy
  • Planning= decide a roadmap what you do in the upcoming years, what is the capacity
  • Not enough taking time to actually plan the different projects
=sometimes you have project x but therefore you need to finish project y
  • The required IT system transformations are difficult to identify and justify
  • People focus to much on short term
  • Lack of leadership = little effort to communicate strategy

Q

the journey to build digital building blocks

A

Setting the stage: This step involves defining the intake strategy and objectives for the digital transformation. This includes identifying the goals and objectives of the transformation and outlining a strategy for how they will be achieved.

Discovery: This step involves understanding the current state of the organization and gathering feedback from key stakeholders and employees. This includes conducting an organizational scan, interviews with floor and stakeholders, and an external assessment of the market and competitive landscape.

Define: This step involves defining the business architecture, transformation roadmap, and communication plan for the digital transformation. This includes creating a holistic view of the organization, outlining a plan for how the transformation will be executed over time, and developing a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed.

Digital transformation: This step involves executing the digital transformation. This includes building a strategic dashboard to measure progress, developing a digital platform, an accountability framework and an external development platform. This step also involves implementing four disciplines: change management, enterprise IT architecture, program management and business architecture.

Q

Digital transformation Based on architecture disciplines

A

Change management: Change management is the process of preparing, supporting, and helping individuals, teams, and organizations to make organizational change. It includes strategies, tools, and processes for managing the people side of change to achieve the desired business outcome. Change management helps organizations to deal with the human side of change, including changes to business processes, systems, and technologies.

Enterprise IT Architecture: Enterprise IT Architecture is the process of aligning the information technology systems and infrastructure of an organization with its business strategy and goals. It involves the development of a blueprint that defines the structure, design, and standards of the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure. This blueprint helps to ensure that the IT systems and infrastructure are aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives, and that they support the delivery of business value.

Program management: Program management is the process of managing a program, which is a group of related projects that are managed in a coordinated way to achieve a specific goal. Program management involves the planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closing of a program. It includes the management of the program’s scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, and risk. Program management helps organizations to manage multiple projects in a coordinated way, and to deliver the desired business outcomes.

Business architecture: Business architecture is the process of designing and creating a holistic view of the organization, including its processes, systems, and technologies. It helps organizations to understand the current state of the business, identify areas for improvement, and create a roadmap for how to achieve the desired future state. Business architecture also helps organizations to align their IT systems and infrastructure with their business goals and objectives, and to ensure that they support the delivery of business value.
