Vis. ketchup bottle sits there it raises by itself and pours on the filing cabinet.
The library workspace opens and consists of 3 sections, what is the right hand one?
Right section: processing options inc:

- a flight case tag attached to the KWs
The library workspace opens and consists of 3 sections, what is the middle one?
Mid section: View and Review pics -
Toggle between grid and loupe (solo) view most of the time;
Use ‘filter bar’ to narrow pics shown.
Use the ‘attributes’ bar to flag, star etc.
Vis. filter, like a coffee filter funnel, sits at top of the screen.
V and R in middle
V and A at bottom - view (mode) and attributes - FLAGS FLYING with stars and colours.
View images in central section as grid or ** - and what is the original meaning?
loupe
a small magnifying glass used by jewellers and watchmakers.
Where is and what do you use the ‘navigator’ screen for?
Also use the ‘navigator’ screen LM (left menu) to focus on a part of the photo in the main screen whilst allowing you to see the whole photo in the navigator – thus you have context for where you are.
hot key for full screen is?
‘F’
How do you use compare mode?
What is the hot key?
In the film strip or grid gallery, ctrl click 2 pics.
Then click the compare icon X | Y.
‘C’ = compare
What mode allows you to compare multiple images.
Select them in film strip or via the grid gallery view.
Survey mode
You can customise what info is shown on photos in the library in both grid and loupe views - how?
View>View Options
What is the hot key to toggle between info view in the loupe view and grid view respectively?
‘i’ and ‘j’
Just have to remember ‘i’ for info, j alpha sequence
When you DC on a pic in grid view, what does it do?
take the pic to loupe view
When you click on a pic, what happens?
It zooms in
How do you specifiy the degree of zoom on the ‘one click’ action?
open pic in loupe - use CTRL + mouse wheel to set the degree of zoom that you want to be the default. Then this setting is sticky until you next change it. So move on to the next pic and click once, the same zoom factor will be in play.
What 3 labels can you use to code your pics?
- flags
- stars
- colour labels
Mnemonic: flag growing out of the attribute bar near the bottom of the screen, with stars and colours like American flag
short cuts to ‘flag’, ‘reject’ and ‘unflag’ are?
‘P’ = flag ‘U’ = unflag ‘X’ = reject
P.U.X. - sound like a pug dog. A pug dog does the image reviewing.
hot keys for selecting star rating?
Numbers 0 – 5 to select star rating or return to zero stars.
hot key for increasing or decreasing star rating?
[ ]
hot keys for first 4 colour labels?
6-9
what’s the main advantage of using the hot keys to code/label your pics?
you can apply to photos when reviewing in full screen.
This is great for quickly evaluating a folder of gig pics. I can code everything up super quickly. Perhaps do a couple of runs to re-evaluate after my first pass and having the overview of all the pics in mind.
i.e. u don’t need to use up screen space to show the attribute bar whilst reviewing and labelling
Once you have flagged your rejects, then how do you delete?
> PHOTO> delete rejected photos
How does LR keep track of your images? (4 points, #1 being the most important)
By arranging your images in to a catalog, which includes information:
- File location
- Previews
- Adjustments
- Metadata inc star ratings
FL-PAM.
‘*’ to darken the screen (‘lights out mode’), again to go pitch black so you can study your pic without distraction.
If using a double screen setup, why can this mode be better than simply going full screen with your pic?
‘L’
–
If you just go full screen with your pic, it will mean your other screen is still bright and a distraction.
With ‘lights out mode’ LR darkens your 2nd screen as well as the screen your viewing the pics on, so you can cut out glare and focus on the task at hand - very good.
If you create edits from raws in PS and create a folder in explorer, you can then ‘sync’ the folder in LR so that the app sees the new folder and pics. How?
> RC folder>synchronize folder
Which hot key to deselect all photos?
Ctrl + D
Of course it’s Ctrl first - when you select multiples you do this using Ctrl and click - as you would in windows apps too.
