linear changing forms Flashcards
(15 cards)
How do we change from point slope form to slope intercept form?
We distribute the slope and then get y alone
Slope intercept form
y=mx+b
Standard form of a linear
ax+by=c
How do we get an equation into standard form?
Start with y=mx+b and then move the x term to the same side as the y
What are the special things to remember about standard form?
a has to be positive and there can’t be a fraction or decimal anywhere
In y=mx+b, what does m stand for
slope
In y=mx+b, what does b stand for
y intercept
What is the slope of y=3x+2
3
What is the slope of y=-2x+3
-2
What is the slope of y=8x+4
8
What is the slope of y=-10x+5
-10
What is the starting point of y=3x+7?
(0,7)
What is the starting point of y=2x-5?
(0,-5)
What is the starting point of y=-4x+9?
(0,9)
What is the starting point of y=x-2?
(0,-2)
