Repetition of a word or sequence of words at the beginning of successive clauses, phrases, or sentences
Anaphora
Repetition of a word or phrase at the end of successive clauses
Epiphora (Epistrophe)
The combination of anaphora and epiphora
Symploce
The repetition of the last word (or phrase) from the previous line, clause, or sentence at the beginning of the next
Anadiplosis
Repetition of a word with one or more between, usually to express deep feeling
Diacope
Repetition of the same word, with none between, for vehemence
Epizeuxis
Repetition of the initial part at the end of that same clause or sentence
Epanalesis
Successive words, phrases, clauses, or sentences are arranged in ascending order of importance
Climax
A series of words, phrases or clauses are mentioned in descending order of importance
Anti-climax
Using one part of speech as another, such as using a noun as a verb
Anthimeria
The repetition of similar concepts within a repeated and inverted grammatical structure, but not necessarily the repetition of the same words
Chiasmus
The use of several synonyms together to amplify or explain a given subject or term
Synonymia
The use of different words to say the same thing twice in the same statement
Tautology
The omission of one or more sounds or syllables from the beginning of a word
Apheresis
The omission of one or more sounds or syllables from the end of a word
Apocope
The addition of a letter or syllable to the beginning of a word
Prothesis
The addition of a letter or syllable to the middle of a word
Epenthesis
The addition of a letter or syllable to the end of a word
