Lakes and Ponds

A

Lakes- body of fresh water in which sun light does not reach the bottom, temp is quite consistent although the bottom is a little colder, too deep to grow anywhere but the shoreline
Pond- Body of fresh water in which sun light does reach the bottom, temp is consistent throughout, Plants can root themselves

A

River- a large, fast moving body of freshwater
Clean or Murky
Stream- a smaller, slower moving body of freshwater
Usually include both pools and ripples
Small plants such a mosses and algae live here

A

Largest Aquatic habitat, are saltier and deeper than lakes.

Also have more movement due to tide, waves and currents.

A

More than 90% of life is in the first 180m.
This is because light can only penetrate this far down.
Plants can only grow up here, or root themselves but grow many meters up.
