Living procesess in multi clellular organsims Flashcards
(12 cards)
What is a muscle cell?
Arranged as multinuclear stirated fibres that contract and relax to generate movement
What are white blood cells?
Can change shape functions in destroying pathogens
Red blood cells
Does not contain nucleus shaped as a bioncave disc functions to optimize transportation of oxygen
Nerve cell
Long and thin shape functions in sending nerve impulses
Epithelial cells
Thin and flat cells coats the surface organs such as the digestive tract
Sperm cell
Has a long tail to enable it to swim towards the ovum in the follapian tube the head carries a set of chromosomes from the male
Sieve tube element
Long cylindracsl tubes srranged from end to end; transports organic material from leaves to storage organs such as fruits
Xylem vessel
Long continuous hollow tube; functions in transporting water and minerals salts from roots to the other partnof plant
Palisade mesophyll cell
Consits of long cylindrical cells arranged vertically contains high chlorophyll density which allows max absorption of sunlight
Spongy mesophyll cell
Cell loosely arranged with lots of air space which allows exchange of gas from inside from the inside of levels to palisade mesophyll cells
Gaurd cell
Modified lower epidermis cells with the thicker cell wall on the inner side controls the opening and closing of the stoma which allows exhange of gases
