Localisation of Function (A03) Flashcards
(2 cards)
1
Q
Strengths
A
- Evidence from brain scans
Petersen et al (1988) used brain scans to identify that Wernicke’s area was active during a listening task and Broca’s area activates during a reading task. - Case Studies
Phineas Gage’s change in personality can be put down to the damage to his left frontal lobe
2
Q
Limitations
A
- The brain should be studied holistically
Lashley (1950) removed areas of the cortex in rats that were learning maze routes. No area was found to be more important than another in learning the route so Lashley believed every cortex works together not separately.
