“The mind-forged manacles I hear”
“mind-forged manacles” suggests that people are trapped in their own thoughts and minds in London and cannot escape their suffering.
Suggests they’ve been taught to obey authority and cannot stand up for themselves
“Marks of weakness, marks of woe”
Rhythm is established within the poem representing the continual suffering of the people, or the footsteps of the poet.
“Weakness” and “Woe” are both creating a sense of pain and misery
“Runs in blood down palace walls”
Graphic imagery and metaphor could have a connection to the French Revolution.
Blake could be calling for a similar revolution in London - prompts people standing up against their oppressors
