Lorenz - Brain Flashcards
(14 cards)
Frontal Lobe is part of the cerebral cortex (telencephalon)
What functions is it responsible for?
Origin of pyramidal and extra-pyramidal pathways. Does not generate gait
Parietal Lobe deals with what functions?
Sensory: touch, conscious perception of noxious stimuli (pain), proprioception
Temporal lobe deals with what
Hearing proprioception
Occipital Lobe deals with what?
Vision!!
What major functions are associated with the forebrain as a whole?
Thinking, consciousness, perception of stimuli, smell, vision, hearing, behavior, voluntary motor control, endocrine - autonomic functions
What makes up the forebrain?
The cerebral cortex plus the diencephalon
What does the thalamus do?
“Transmits”
Relay station for almost all sensory info
What does the hypothalamus do?
It is responsible for Endocrine, Autonomic, and Pituitary
Would there be prominent gait abnormalities in a forebrain lesion?
No sir
Where does CNIII arise from?
The forebrain
What makes up the Hindbrain?
The Pons, Cerebellum, and the Medulla
What makes up the mesencephalon?
The Midbrain
What makes up the Metencephalon?
The Pons and the Cerebellum
What makes up the Mylencephalon?
The Medulla
