Pulmonary Tuberculosis
Infectious bacterial disease
Caused by inhalation of the bacteria
Leads to chronic infection in the lungs
Oesophagus
Conduit for food and liquid that have been swallowed into the pharynx to reach the stomach
Pulmonary fibrosis
Progressive lung disease - lead to break down in lung structure
Cause unknown but linked to smoking, inhalation of dust, viral infections.
Produced repeated injury/ insult to the alvioli leading to an abnormal repair response
Emphysema
Leads to alveoli gradually getting distorted
Cause is smoking, exposure to pollution and smoke.
Age and exposure to fumes or dust.
Walls of alveoli weaken and determinate- reducing surface area
Asthma
Chronic lung disease - inflamed and narrows airways
Cause in unknown
Inflamed airways become narrow and clogged with mucus in response to a certain trigger
