People walk in –> store looks like fully furnished apt –> unique –> people like it and can buy the whole set (gets people to buy a lot at one time; fairly easy shopping experience)

lack of packaging allows for scents, tasting, feeling, lots of music; overall a more engaging experience

subconsciously control customer mood, amount of time they spend, energy level, speed

english mall –> modeled after istanbul –> very engaging and unique
caesar’s palace –> modeled after ancient rome –> artificial sky/day lighting that goes through “one day” in an hour –> make people lose track of time
what does online shopping mean for in-person stores
people go shopping in person fro the experience, not the pdt –> need to make it an engaging experience so people keep coming
