What is an electromagnetic machine?
An electromagnetic machine is one that links an electrical energy system to another energy system providing a reversible means of energy flow in its magnetic field.
How can an electromagnetic system develop a mechanical force?
-By alignment

Describe allignment forces?
Arise when a magnetic material or circuit tries to align itself to a position of minimum reluctance.

Describe interactive forces?
Interactive forces occur when two current carrying conductors or coils interact through their mutual magnetic fields often resulting in torque.
How do allignment and interactive forces work with rotors and stators?
Allignment- rotor seeks to allign stator poles to minimize magnetic reluctance, rotor shifts to reduce field energy
Interactive- Interaction between stator and rotor magnetic fields, torque generated between two coils
Describe the components of a rotating machine?
Stator- stationary part producing magnetic field
Rotor- Rotating part interacting with magnetic field
The rotor rotates due to allingment or interactive forces depending on machine type
