Nationalism

How Militarism led to WW1
Countries like Germany and Britain competed in an arms race to build powerful navies and armies, leading to many military leaders gaining influence.
How Alliances led to WW1
Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy) and Triple Entente (Britain, France, Russia) formed rival camps.
How Imperialism led to WW1
European nations competed for overseas colonies, especially in Africa and Asia, creating global tension and rivalries.
How Nationalism led to WW1
National groups wanted independence (e.g., Serbs in the Balkans), and major countries wanted to prove their dominance and power.
What was the effect of Militarism in WW1
Created tension and fear between nations. Countries were more willing and prepared to go to war, and thus escalated very quickly.
What was the effect of Alliances in WW1
Turned a regional conflict (Austria vs Serbia) into a world war as allies were pulled in due to contracts and mutual agreements.
What was the effect of Imperialism in WW1
Increased mistrust and competition. Conflicts in colonies spread war beyond Europe.
What was the effect of Nationalism in WW1
Caused conflicts like the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and encouraged aggressive foreign policies. Caught the attention of other countries so it became more brutal.
