Main feed and SGWLC Flashcards

1
Q

What is the purpose of the Main Feed? How is this accomplished?

A

It is designed to transfer water from the condensate system to the steam generators.
To accomplish this it 1. Increases feedwater pressure from the condensate system pressure of about 600 psig to about 1100 psig, which is required by the steam generators
2. Heats the feedwater to meet the temperature requirements of the steam generator
3. Accepts chemical solutions from the chemical feed system enroute to the steam generators
4. In conjunction with the steam generator water level control system (SGWLC), automatically controls the steam generator water level during steady state and transient conditions.

Q

What are the two systems the Steam Generator Water Level Control system (SGWLC) is composed of? What do each of them do?

A

The S/G water level control portion of the system allows automatic or manual control of the S/G water level by positioning the feed regulating valves at higher power levels, or the feed reg bypass valves while at low reactor power levels

The feed pump speed control portion of the S/G water level control system varies the speed of the turbine driven main feed pumps (TDMFPs) in order to maintain the proper differential pressure (P) across the main feed regulating valves.
