ASCII is 7 bit code and comprises 128 characters to represent standard keyboard characters and various control characters -ISCII is 8 bit code with 256 characters , which 128 characters of ASCII and rest 128 for Indian scripts ex :- Bengali, Gujarati etc. ASCII was originally developed for basic computers and printers. It uses a 7-bit code to represent characters. As more computers began to work with 8-bit groups of data, ASCII was written as 8 bits.
  2. Unicode has over 128000 characters of various languages whereas, the other scheme contains only 256 characters of some Indian languages.
