A
  • Will blunt tools
  • Edges must be covered and treated
  • Unresistant to moisture - can rot and decay
  • Dust particles may be hazardous

A
  • Very dense and stable
  • Doesnt warp
  • Can be veneered to give excellent surface finish
  • Uses: flat pack furniture, drawer bottoms, kitchen surfaces

A
  • Odd number of veneers
  • Grain is at right angles
  • Strong and resistant to splitting
  • Uses: furniture, boat building

  • Veneer applied to surface
  • Not uniform strength
  • Uses: fire doors, tabletops

  • Long fibres soaked in resin and compressed
  • One side smooth the other side textured
  • Unsuitable for external use as it absorbs water easily
  • Drawer bottoms, cabinet backs, door cladding
