Latitude lines

- Run across the map
- Measured in degrees North and South of the equator
- They are parallel to each other
- Decrease in length towards the poles

- They meet at the poles
- They are all the same length

- Green is flat land
- Brown is hight land

- Brown/ orange lines
- They join places which have the same height
- Heights are given in meters

- Shown as a black dot or triangular pillar
- Height in meters

- Maybe drawn by using the contours on the map

Uniform slope
- The contours decrease evenly
- Distance between the contour lines is the same all the way down the slope

- The contour lines are closer together at the bottom of the
- Height increase quickly and slope is steep

- Height increase slowly and slope is gentle
