MAPP Flashcards
(30 cards)
What are Essential Skills
Situational awareness, decision making, aircraft maintained within tolerances.
What are the enabling skills
Knowledge, management, communication.
What are the elements of Situational Awareness
Perception, comprehension, projection.
What is perception?
The ability to notice things.
Inside, outside, geographic, spatial, systems, enviromental, commercial.
What is comprehension.
The ability to understand what has been noticed.
Eg; certain fuel level require diversion, implication of weather forming enroute.
What is projection.
The ability to think ahead and predict the effect of what has been comprehended.
Eg; considering possible future events, extra fuel due personal experience
What are the elements if Aircraft flown within tolerences.
Manual flight, automation, monitoring.
What is the definiton and example of Manual Flight
Pilot manipulation of flight controls. With or without FD. Making adjustments to maintsin systems within normal operating limits.
Eg; Tolerances during circling approach or engine fsilure at V1. They are set out by regultory body.
What is the definition and an example of Automation.
Use of aircraft systems to manipulate flight controls. Appropriate level of automation and correst use of automatic modes.
Eg; pilot using automation to fly in level flight, appropriate use of FMS.
What is definiton of Monitoring
Task of observing aircraft flight path and making appropriate exceedence or awareness calls.
Eg; appropriate callouts during instrument approach to ensure deviations are corrected.
What are the elements of Descion Making
Time, facts and diagnosis, option generation, risk asesment, plan and contingencies, review.
What is the definition of time.
Being aware if avaiable time to come to a decision.
What is the definition of Facts and Diagnosis
Facts are pieces of information.
Diagnosis is identifying the nature of cause of something.
Eg; evedince during non normal situation, id system failure,
What is the definition of Option Generation.
A choice that is or can be taken.
Eg; reviewing suitable alternates. Obtaining weather, evaluating characteristics of airport.
What is the definition of Risk Assessment
The statistical chance if danger from something.
Eg; comsidering the likely risks and threats of a decision.
What is the definition of Plan and Contingencies.
Plan: A method of doing something, worked out in advance.
Contingency: A provision made for future probable though unexpected events.
Eg; planning for an alternate aerodrome. Planning for not just missed approach but late miss while circling.
What is the definition of Review
To discuss or exmine somthing again.
Eg;PF asking PM to check latest weather, update fuel status.
What are the elements of Aviation Knowledge.
Facts, procedures.
What is the definition of Facts
Knowledge that can describe specific events or facts.
Eg; aircraft limitations, memory items, stable criteria, previous experience flying into an airport, fuel policy
What is the definition of Procedures
Knowledge that enables a pilot to perform a specific task
Eg; SOP for performing routine tasks, landing techniques, engine failures.
What are the elements of Communication
Clear and correct, information flow, timeliness.
What is the definition of Clear and Correct
Clear: understood without confusion or uncertainty, and so obvious as to need ni further explanation or guidance.
Correct: Accurate or without errors.
Eg; pilot able to relay message using simple and concise language
What is the definition of Information Flow.
Measure of two way communication. Including the willingness or readiness to receive critique or ideas and make personal inputs.
Eg;captain listrning to comments from the fo, fo speaking up during planning.
What is the definition of Timeliness
Happening or done at the right time, or an appropriate time.
Eg PM allows PF to complete turn during non normal, as high workload reduces information reception.
