Q

What was the 1554 Repeal of Act of Supremacy?

A

Parliament met and refused to repeal the Act of Supremacy. They did pas the Act of Repeal which undid all of the Edwardian Reformation, revived mass, ritual worship and clerical celibacy and implicitly reaffirmed the traditional doctrine of transubstantiation. This restored the Church to what it had been in 1547. They would not fully repeal the Act of Supremacy until 1554 until the issue of Monastic Lands had been resolved.
