Area of a triangle

Divide the figure into rough smaller shapes e.g. squares and triangles.

Pie R Squared (R is the radius=half the diameter)

Volume of rectangular tanks
Width x Length x Height
Volume of rectangular tank with sloping base e.g. swimming pool
Add together values for deep and shallow ends and divide by 2 then multiply this value by the length and the width.
Volume of Circular Tanks
Surface area is calculated as normal and then multiplied by the height of the tank.
0.8xd^2xh (Multiply answer by 1000 to get capacity in litres or 800 x d^2 x h
Volume of Cones and Pyramids
(area of base x height) / 3.
Volume of a Sphere
(Pi x diameter^3) / 6.
Volume of irregular shaped tanks e.g. ponds
